Dear Diary,
A lot has happened in the last few weeks, and I haven't been very good at keeping up to date on my writing. Unfortunately, I've run out of time to catch up, so here's some short posts to fill in the blanks.
January 14. Mommy and I went to the land she'd gotten for our vacation house. It turned out I WOULD have been allowed after all. Still, Mommy had decided she didn't want it anyways. We danced around a bit in the sand, and said goodbye to the place. We then looked at a few more houses, and Mommy made a decision that she wanted us to not move, but still have a new house... so soon, someone is gonna come and take our old house away and put up a new one! Crazy!
January 18. My friend Mari mentioned she was looking forward to camp. Mommy had asked me to find out about camp the next time it came up. It turned out that the registration day is TOMORROW! So, I got all the information from Mari that I could, and then I spent a very nervous day worrying about that. Today was also MOVING DAY.. and boy was it crazy. I dunno how they can take away and rebuild a house so fast, but I spent half the day trying to arrange my new room. There was also a lot of crazy busy-ness when a lady Mommy knows came over to our house, and then suddenly the lady was having her baby.. so there was lots of crazy busy stuff going on with calling the ambulance and so on. After that had happened.. Mommy and I spent the night arranging things some more, and hanging out together, trying to keep my mind off worrying about camp.
January 19. OMG I ACTUALLY GOT IN TO CAMP! Such a crazy day. They have a limited number of spaces, and a LOT more kids who want to go. So they have a kind of a race. All the kids sit by the computer and wait for the message that tells where the signup will be. Then we all go rushing to open that webpage. They were supposed to only let 5 kids in at a time, but something went wrong and 50 kids showed up at once. The system was overwhelmed, and my application went through, and then it spit the money back. So I sent it again, and it spit it back again. And by the time that had happened, all the spots were filled. They were crazy overwhelmed by all the things going wrong, so I didn't find out if I got in or not for nearly an hour. That was a really worrisome hour.
January 22. Yesterday, Mommy and I put a reading cubby in the closet in my room. A great place to hide and think. Today, Mommy had a surprise for me when I got home from school.. a new playhouse! It's like a second bedroom, but it's its own house in the backyard! There's a cool couch in there that's just my size! It's such an amazing playhouse, and it looks a lot like our house, same colors and everything! I can't wait til the snow melts, between my bicycle and the playhouse, there's so much to do outside that I can't do while it's snowing!
January 25. My baby sister was born last night. Ava Lee-Athanasius! She's so much tinier than Tatie was when I first saw him. Mommy went to the hospital while I was asleep, and Aunt Kelly came over stay with me and Tatie while Mommy is in the hospital.

"Day at the races"
Dear Diary,
Calton's Aunt Bertha finally brought him over to see us, and seemed to be busy talking with Mommy. Meanwhile, Calton and Tatie and I all played with Mr Pickles, and I was FINALLY able to give Calton his Christmas present!
Aunt Kelly helped me get this one, it was a Gameboy with 4 games to play. (She has a whole collection, and she said I could have that one to give to Calton.) Calton really seemed to like it, cause he ran around and every time he stopped for more than a second to talk, he had this Game out and was playing like crazy.
Finally at least, everyone got their presents from me this year.
Calton and Tatie and I played and sang, I still had my Elmo puppet out, and we had fun with him. And of course Mr. Pickles ran all over, with Tatie chasing him as best he could, and Calton chasing them both. Then all too soon again, Aunt Bertha and Calton had to leave.
I've hardly spent ant time with Calton.. and he's only 4 so he's still just a baby really.. but I like having him around. But for reasons no one explains to me, he has a room here, and he never sleeps in it.
Mommy said he might not be staying with us after all.

"Elmo's World"
Dear Diary,
Today was a day spent mostly at home. Mommy's been sick, so it's been up to me to entertain Tatie a lot of the time. Mommy was taking a nap while we were playing, and came out of her room to find me and Tatie clapping to each other.
Tatie had on an Elmo shirt, and I got my Elmo puppet. and we started singing the Elmo song while we clapped. Well, Tatie sorta "yayayaya'ed" along, but he kinda knows the sound of the song already!
When Mommy got up, I showed her some of the costumes that Mr. Pickles has. I'm serious! He has his own costumes! Some of them are very silly, but I think I like the superman one best, and the Tuxedo one.
"Pickles.. Mister Pickles."
Mommy and I cuddled for a lil while, then we all got bundled up and went to Aunt Kelly's workshop, and Mommy and Aunt Kelly talked more about their big secret plans. Mommy seems very excited, but she won't tell me yet what it's all about. I'm sure she will soon, or Aunt Kelly will.
Aunt Kelly is terrible at keeping secrets.

"Checking out"
Dear Diary,
Today was a really nice day. When I got home from school, Mommy and I sat in the playroom and talked a lot. Well.. we call it a playroom, but it's just a couch and a rug. It's really Mommy's old office where she used to keep her doctor books. When Calton was here, it was gonna be the playroom... but it looks like Calton's only gonna visit us from now on.. at least.. he's never here. I still haven't given him his Christmas present, and it's already a week after new years!
After talking and cuddling for a long time, Mommy said "let's go look at some houses" and boy did we! Mommy said she's thinking about changing our house, or having us move, and she wanted to look at some of the options.
We saw some really nice houses. The one I liked best, unfortunately, didn't have enough bedrooms for everybody. But it had a rilly neat back porch, and a cool room downstairs that would have been a perfect bedroom for Tatie... of course with Mommy having another baby soon, well we need more space.
Mommy wasn't sure if we would move to a new house, or if some workers would come and take away our old house and put a new one in the same place! That seems so amazing to me that they can even do that!
Mommy's also been spending a lot of time hanging out with Aunt Kelly, which is cool. They talk a lot about Aunt Kelly's work and such, and about grown up stuff. Mostly tho, I play videogames when they're talking and having tea and so on. Mommy's been helping Aunt Kelly with a kind of house she wants to make... or maybe it's Aunt Kelly who's helping Mommy. I dunno.

"Goodbye to Cory"
Dear Diary,
Mommy and Cory had a fight, and a big one. Mommy came into my room today and wanted to talk serious.
She said Cory was leaving, and he wasn't coming back. She was crying, and Mr.Pickles wanted up on her lap, and then I asked her if Cory was gonna take Mr. Pickles with him, like when Aunti Raewi left and Mr. Dog when with her.
Mommy said no, cuz Mr. Pickles is mine, and he lives here with us, with me, forever. She said that. He's MINE, she said, and said I was like his Mommy now.
MY FIRST MINION!
I don't really think I like Cory very much. It's not that he's mean really, at least not to me, he's just.. I dunno, a lil scary. He comes and goes, he doesn't say much to me, and really Mommy is always nervous, and they fight. He wants me to like him, but I think he's angry that we're not friends yet. I dunno.
Now he's going tho. Guess I won't have to worry about it then.
After Mommy and I talked, and hugged, and played with Mr. Pickles.. Aunti Jo came home for a visit! I was finally, finally, finally able to give her her Christmas present!
In case you're wondering, I gave her a really cool big shirt and some leggings. It's rilly cool, and so is Aunti Jo.. she deserves to look cool too! She really liked her present, and that made me happy. Her and Me and Mommy all sat around and talked and joked and tickled, and then Aunti Jo went upstairs cuz she was feeling sick, at least that's what Aunti Lucy said when she came downstairs. Then she and Mommy mostly talked and then all too soon it was time for bed and I had to go.

A recurring theme for Anwenn is her loose plans for world domination, becoming a mad scientist, supervillan, or something along those lines. No doubt this is fueled by her (and my) love for Mystery Science 3000's Dr. Clayton Forrester, and Austin Powers' foil, Doctor Evil.

"No kids allowed"
Dear Diary,
HAPPY NEW YEAR! Well, I wish it was.
It's been a busy week! I found out what all of Mommy's phone-calls were about, and why Mommy has been so busy lately, leaving me with Aunt Kelly.
Mommy has been planning a huge surprise for our family. I think she wanted it to be ready for Christmas, but there were problems.
Mommy and Cory got a vacation house.. and it's like the total opposite of Somersley. While it's cold and snowing here, it's sunny and warm at the beach there! It looked really nice, and I got to see a bit of the place from pictures that Mommy sent to Kelly's phone, but there's a problem.
And its a big problem, and it's got everyone very upset. And it's my fault.
Mommy found out, after getting the place, that kids aren't allowed. Babies, yes, but not big kids like me.
No one's mad *AT* me.. but they're all mad or sad, or both, and there's a lot of yelling and slamming doors.
I'm sad. But I'm not sad cuz of the vacation house not happening, and I'm not sad cuz I'm not allowed there.
I'm sad because it's my fault that Mommy is frustrated and sad. She says it's not my fault, but it feels like it is. I want her to be happy because of me, not sad.

I guess this is the point where I explain that. The "School" metaphor has worked up to this point in explaining Anwenn's absences from the larger story when *I* am busy working.. but that hasn't always worked out well, especially over the holidays, with 'Mommy" taking off for a vacation here and there... so we've invented Aunt Kelly, a neighbor/friend of Mommy's, who hasn't had kids but wants them, who babysits Anwenn when Rae is off gallivanting.
